Summary
In the poem, The tide rises, The tide falls, Henry Longfellow is talking about the ocean and a traveler that is making his way to town. I think this poem was intended to represent life because no matter what happens, the tide will always rise and fall, washing away whatever was left behind. When he says the traveler never returns to the shore, he is saying that we shouldn't hold on to things that are going to bring us down. The main point of this poem is to just keep moving on because life is like the ocean, moving on.
Comparison
I believe that the poem, The tide rises, The tide falls, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is an understandable poem. Comparing this poem to other poems is difficult because this poem describes more about the setting. Although there was once poem I found called "Venice" which is also by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. I think that these 2 poems are similar because they both explain a visual setting and explain where the story takes place. The theme is similar because both poems are explaining the setting of a place and what the characteristics are of the settings. I believe that the poems have similar explanations in describing the 2 different places.
